We Started a Play Group!
We are delighted to announce that we have started a Play Group at Thornhill Baptist Church! Jez Vicente, one of our Caregiver Ministry Assistants and the Leader of the Group shares about the group:
Our playgroup is a gathering of children age 4 and under accompanied by a parent or caregiver. We meet every Monday at 1 PM to 2PM at the TBC Nursery/Toddler room. Each parent or caregiver must sign a registration form. Both children and the grown-ups have the chance to connect and socialize. Children have the opportunity to explore a new learning environment, develop their social, physical, intellectual and emotional well being through guided play, interactive story time and nursery rhymes, and creative arts and crafts. While the adults can get both friendship and support from each other who understand what they are going through.
Last week we started a series where the families of Caregivers share their stories. This week we hear from another one of the husbands – Bobby Montemayor. Bobby is married to Meriam. Bobby came to Canada very recently – in May, 2014 after having lived in Hong Kong for many years. Here is Bobby’s story.
On our Blog we have written a lot about what it is like to be a Live-In Caregiver. But have you ever wondered what it is like for their husbands and families back home and far away from them? Today we begin a new series – where the families share their experiences.
Our first profile is on Marshall Homecogoy. Mars is married to Jez (one of our Ministry Assistants). Marshall is also very active at Thornhill Baptist Church where he involved in Music ministry and the Caregivers’ Fellowship. They have an almost two year old son – Aidan, who fills their lives with joy and adventure. Here is Marshall’s story.
